There are all different style of boutonnieres that you can make for a wedding that are unique and stylish. One particular style that is especially fun and perfect for a vintage style wedding is one that incorporates a vintage or vintage inspired skeleton key.
Since the key takes up the majority of space, these diy boutonnieres are particularly easy to make.
It’s not just a matter of pinning a key to a lapel, however. There are many ways to make this style uniquely yours.
I found several different ideas that each offer something a little different. Maybe one of these will spark an interest with you!
I like how the grooms key is larger than the rest and the addition of Scrabble tiles is a nice way to personalize each boutonniere. Click on the photo to get the detailed instructions on this one!
This idea is so elegantly simple that it can be completed in minutes. Just tie a bow through the top of a key and pin it on!
Feathers are very popular in vintage weddings so pairing them with the vintage keys is an excellent choice.
I don’t think most guys would mind pairing a key with a couple of leaves made from linen and silk! Even the addition of baby’s breath is a nice chic touch that isn’t over the top floral for a man. The baby’s breath just gets wound with string to the top and the leaves can be attached to the back with glue.
If your guy doesn’t mind florals, you can simply wrap a couple of flowers, in your colors, with ribbon or string to the front of the key.
This is a super fun and unique idea using burlap, a large button and, of course, a skeleton key. A section of twine is pulled through the burlap and button and ties around the key to hold everything in place.
This is a very interesting idea and work really well if you were also using brooch bouquets. The fabric could also be a solid color to match the bridesmaid dresses or even a burlap or lace.
And finally, I really like this unique idea using a wide striped ribbon with a key. It reminds me of a square pocket hankie….very dapper!
I hope you have been inspired!
